So, I used Windows Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a client’s network the other day to perform some tweaks on one of their newly set up Macs. Once I connected to the server in their office with RDC I then opened up the installed VNC client to access one of the client’s Macs where the tweaks were to be performed. Once connected to the Mac I opened up the VM Ware virtual machine (Windows Vista) and then made the requested modifications. Then, I got to thinking about what I had done. I had opened a virtual connection, which allowed me to open a virtual connection through VNC to access another virtual access point in the form of a virtual operating system on the Mac.
I had successfully made it to another dimension. And then I thought some more, “How many virtual machines could I possibly open? By cheating (and wasting a generous amount of time) and opening VNC connections from networked computer to computer, almost a limitless amount.” With that thought, and the thought of creating a rip in the space/time continuum, I moved onto more productive thoughts.
