Amazing Way To Raise Awareness For The Tokyo 2016 Olympic Bid

In what appears to be an amazing act of obsessive compulsive order, Japanese TV star Kanpei Hazama is attempting to run across the world to raise awareness for the 2016 Tokyo Olympic bid.

On July 10th, Kanpei entered Times Square to complete the 3rd leg of his around the world journey, a mere 4 months after he sailed into Los Angeles on March 11th. Doing some quick math (4800 km divided by 120 days) means that Kanpei was running an average of 40 km per day.

Check out the Tokyo 2016 Scrapbook here and the post about Kanpei Hazama here.

Here’s the excerpt from the Tokyo 2016 Scrapbook blog post:

Japanese TV star and Tokyo 2016 Ambassador Kanpei Hazama has arrived in New York City after running 4,800 km across the United States of America.

His arrival marked the end of the third stage of his ‘Earth Marathon’ odyssey, which will now see him sail to Le Havre in France before running on to Copenhagen in time to support Tokyo at the 2016 Host City vote.

Upon arrival in New York, Kanpei thanked all those who had turned out to support him on his journey across the States, and vowed to complete his 36,000 km journey around the world.

And with more than 70 Marathons and Ultra Marathons under his belt, who would bet against him?
